Longyearbyen Breakfast Dialogues initiates the first of Artica’s many Public Programmes.

The main objective is to engage with Longyearbyen’s local community as well as national and international guests. Together we will ask questions relevant to Longyearbyen, led by Head of Norwegian PEN, William Nygaard, artist A K Dolven, students from University of Svalbard and Founder of Polar Permaculture, Benjamin Vidmar.

We will provide a light breakfast and transport connecting you to the stops on our programme. (This event is in English)

The bus departs UNIS at 08:00 and will connect you to the stops on our programme.

At the end of our programme bus will connect with Longyearbyen airport, arriving at 12:10.

08:30 - 09:00, Longyearbyen Breakfast Dialogue #1

Artica’s Workshop, Veg 608 - 3, Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway

Artist A K Dolven speaks with chef Benjamin Vidmar of Longyearbyen-based Polar Permaculture, a grassroots company specialising in permaculture-based food production for the arctic climate and regions characterised by permafrost. Artica Svalbard’s visiting writers and artists will be invited to work at Polar Permaculture in the greenhouse. This exchange allows the artists to contribute to an exciting local project that aims to benefit the whole community. Dolven and Vidmar will discuss how new approaches to sustainability can be scrutinised in a changing climate of the Arctic as well as the ways the Arctica artists will be involved.

The event is free and open to all.

Breakfast will be served.

10:00 - 10:30 Longyearbyen Breakfast Dialogue #2

UNIS, University of Svalbard
