Join Artica and Emma Henderson for an introduction to printmaking with natural colour.
In this experimental three-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to turn natural materials into colour, and then transform them into inks for printmaking. Focusing on screen printing, we’ll use simple stencils to print and layer colours, exploring the possibilities of natural inks.
We’ll also experiment with natural modifiers that change the pH values of the inks, shifting hues and expanding the palette in unexpected ways.
This is a playful workshop with an emphasis on exploration and process — recognising that working with natural materials encourages more circular, resourceful, and intuitive ways of making.

Where: Artica Svalbard, vei 608-3 (next door to the fire station)

About the artist:
Emma Henderson is an artist, producer, and arts educator based in the west of Scotland. Working across printmaking and textiles, she creates natural inks through slow, experimental processes informed by textile histories and craft legacies. Her work draws on feminist traditions of making while exploring sustainable alternatives to printmaking developing low-impact, circular systems of production through DIY and low-waste approaches. Alongside her practice, she works as a producer for local and national arts organisations, leading place-based projects and public programmes that encourage creative learning, connection with nature, and more sustainable ways of living.
