Join Artica artists in residence Annike Flo + Lexie Owen for a walking dialogue from Longyearbyen Sentrum to Svalbard Kirke, with stops at both the existing and proposed graveyards.
Over the course of the walk Annike and Lexie will share some insights into their ongoing research focusing on the complicated afterlives of bodies, both human and more-than, on Svalbard in dialogue with local guests including Sokneprest Siv Limstrand, and Associate Professor in Arctic Geology at UNIS Marjolaine Verret.
The event is part of their ongoing series “walking with death,” which invites professionals from different fields to participate in trans-disciplinary conversations with the public while walking through graveyards and burial grounds.
We will depart from Visit Svalbard (the Tourist Information Center) at 19:00, and will finish at Svalbard Kirke between 20-20:30. There will be warm drinks and discussion served in the fireplace lounge after the walk. Dress for a slow walk with stops of 10 - 15 minutes.
Annike Flo + Lexie Owen are an Oslo-based artist duo, and are currently artists in residence at ARTICA Svalbard, nominated by OCA. Their residency has received additional support from Canada Council for the Arts
