Film Screening: THE SEA IS THE WALLS OF MY HOME / Æ for Ærfugl

  • Artica Svalbard Longyearbyen, Svalbard, 9170 Svalbard and Jan Mayen (map)

Floortje Zonneveld, returning artist-in-residence, invites you to the Svalbard premiere of her short documentary, recently screened at the Tromsø International Film Festival.

The film is about people’s personal relation to and our understanding of the ocean from an islanders point of view. Filmed on Sandøy (Træna), it follows one of Northern Norway’s last eider keepers and reflects on how traditions are passed down and sustained in times of change.

The event includes a short conversation between Floortje and Siri Granum (Project Leader and Professor of Applied Ethics at NTNU), the film screening, and an informal Q&A with coffee.

The project is an Art & Science collaboration funded by the Research Council of Norway and Arctic Film Norway. The film was co-produced by Fasasona (Eilif Bremer Landsend) and features phenomenal cinematography by Tor Edvin Eliassen.
