Dates: Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June, 14:00–17:00 - Participants must attend both sessions
Free and open to all
To Book please email:workshops@articasvalbard.no (8 places available)

What to expect from the workshop
During this two-part workshop, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of soft ground etching and guided through the different stages of the process. You will learn:

  • How soft ground etching works

  • How to prepare and work with etching plates

  • Techniques for creating textures and impressions

  • How to transfer drawings and materials onto the plate

  • The basics of inking and printing your work

Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different materials and produce their own prints to take home. All tools, equipment, and materials are provided. Please wear old clothes as printmaking can be messy.

Alongside the workshop, Soghra Khurasani will host an open studio presentation featuring works developed during her residency through the Queen Sonja Print Award (QSPA) residency programme at Artica Svalbard. The presentation will offer insight into her residency experience in Longyearbyen and the inspiration she has drawn from the surrounding landscape and environment.
