A Generous Book Donation from La Impresora to the Artica Library

As we bid farewell to our summer residents, Nicole Cecilia Delgado and Amanda Hernández, founders of La Impresora, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you for their invaluable contributions to the Artica Svalbard community. Their residency has been a vibrant blend of creative exchange, cultural engagement, and exploration of environmental themes, and we are deeply grateful for the impact they’ve had during their time here.

La Impresora is an artist-led studio based in Puerto Rico, founded and directed by poets Nicole Cecilia Delgado and Amanda Hernández. Their collaborative practice combines writing, printmaking, and independent publishing, exploring themes of identity, place, and environmental interconnections through the lenses of ecofeminism and land art. The duo’s passion for Risograph printing, a sustainable analog printmaking technique, has earned them recognition for their innovative yet traditional editorial work. Their commitment to small-scale publishing, bookbinding, and the promotion of independent voices reflects the cultural richness and environmental narratives of the Caribbean.

During their residency at Artica, Delgado and Hernández engaged with Svalbard's unique Arctic environment, connecting it to their Caribbean roots and expanding their creative practices. Drawing parallels between island ecosystems in the Caribbean and the Arctic, they’ve worked on individual poetry projects and explored analog printmaking techniques, complementing their ongoing focus on Risograph printing. Their stay was marked by a series of memorable community events, including bilingual poetry readings and book-making workshops that brought together local residents and artists alike.

As a token of their appreciation, La Impresora generously donated a collection of books to the Artica library, enriching our community’s resources and creating an enduring link between their work and the people of Svalbard.

We extend our deepest thanks to Nicole and Amanda for their creativity, generosity, and warm spirit throughout their time here. It’s been an unforgettable experience, and we look forward to future collaborations. Wishing them all the best on their continued journey of artistic exploration and environmental advocacy.

Thank you, La Impresora!
