Welcoming Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger and Scott Carroll to Artica Svalbard

We are delighted to welcome our next residents Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger and Scott Carroll to Artica Svalbard.

Lea Kannar-Lichtenberger is an environmental artist whose practice explores human impact on islands and isolated environments. Working across sculpture, installation, and moving image, her research-led approach connects art, science, and lived experience, with a particular focus on fragile ecosystems and the effects of the Anthropocene.

Scott Carroll is a futurist, designer, and award-winning filmmaker whose work investigates the intersections of human behaviour, landscape, and narrative. Through film, journalism, and immersive media, he explores how storytelling and technology can reshape our relationship to the environment.

During their time in Longyearbyen, Lea and Scott will collaborate on The End of Sound—a tactile, multi-sensory installation that reimagines how we perceive sound and sight in the Arctic. Bringing together material exploration and cinematic storytelling, the project invites audiences to move beyond passive observation and engage the senses in reflecting on climate change, perception, and ecological responsibility.

We look forward to following the development of their work during their stay.
