Line Prip

In residence: February - May 2027

Line Prip is a Norwegian artist whose site-sensitive practice explores how humans and other species adapt to their environments. Through fieldwork and immersive residencies, she examines connections between geological and ecological processes and human experience, asking how environments shape behaviour, survival strategies and our capacity for change. Alongside her artistic training from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Prip holds a BA in Wilderness and Wildlife Management, bringing knowledge of natural science and ecology into her artistic practice. Her work has been presented through exhibitions, performances and residencies at institutions including Sandefjord Kunstforening, Bomuldsfabriken, Hå Gamle Prestegard, Leveld Kunstnartun, Åfjord Art Month and Deichman Bjørvika.

During her Tarandus residency, Prip will work alongside researchers in the high-Arctic tundra, participating in fieldwork and collecting data on the behaviour of Svalbard reindeer to better understand how they are adapting to a changing environment. Following her time at Tarandus, she will continue her research in the landscape around Longyearbyen, exploring ways to connect knowledge gained through scientific fieldwork with her own observations and experiences of the wider Svalbard environment.
